PROBLEM: You have just uploaded your site but it still shows your directory structure.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- You did not name your first page with one of the valid file names (see below), so the directory page still displays. This needs to be exact
- all lowercase letters, spelled correctly, etc.
- You uploaded to the wrong place. All uploads of your web content need to go into '<domain>-www'. If you have uploaded to the wrong location (such as the root folder of your account) the server will not display your pages.
ACCEPTABLE INDEX PAGE FILE NAMES
(in order of precedence):
default.htm
index.phtml
index.pht
index.cgi
index.shtml
index.htm
index.html
index.php
index.php3
PROBLEM: You ordered hosting from us but your domain name still goes to the previous location.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Your registrar still has the old DNS (nameserver)
information on file for your domain name. Did you modify the
record with them? See our Domain Transfer page for information.
- Your registrar has the right information but the change has not yet propagated. It takes anywhere from 1-3 days for a change in domain registration to spread out (propagate) to all ISPs around the world. Has it been 72 hours since the change?
PROBLEM: Your email is not being received properly, or you are getting an error message when checking a mailbox at your domain.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Your email software is not set up correctly
to check the POP account you created. Review the information
at the Support Bookshelf to make sure you are using the right
configuration for your email client.
- Your domain name is not moved over yet (see
above) or not propagated. Email will not work properly until
the domain name is fully updated to point to our servers.
- Check your email configuration in your Control
Panel to make sure you have set up the account correctly. Is
it set up as a POP box or does it forward elsewhere?
- Check the "Default" setting in Mail Manager to make sure that improperly addressed mail, or mail that is sent to an account name that you do not have at your domain, gets sent to where you want it. When you first set up your account, this is set to send all undeliverable mail to the mailbox created by the server (identical to your domain name). You should change this to reflect how you wish to handle this type of mail.
PROBLEM: You changed your password, now you can't log in!
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Have you waited at least 10 minutes before attempting
to access your site Control Panel? It takes a few minutes for
the server to process your request.
- Are you typing it exactly, including case? The
system is extremely case-sensitive, so even one capital letter
where it shouldn't be will be enough to deny you access.
- Did you change your password to one that has more than 8 characters? If so, the system has truncated it to 8 characters. So if you picked a password of "splashdown" it actually got set to "splashdo".
PROBLEM: You cannot get FrontPage extensions to install for your domain
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- You have previously uploaded content to your
account using FTP or other transfer method. Remove all content
and try again.
- You have software installed in your CGI-BIN
or other folder that uses its own '.htaccess' file. FrontPage
manages its own security so there can be no other .htaccess
files present when attempting to install the extensions. Install
extensions first, then install your 3rd-party software.
- You have used the Web Protect tool. This conflicts
with FrontPage's security scheme. Remove any directory protection
and try again.
- You installed of a shopping cart or other CGI/Perl program that has directory protection. See above.
