Transferring your domain to Earth Star Hosting requires you to do some very specific tasks to ensure that your transfer occurs smoothly.
As the owner of your domain name, you and only you, are authorized to make your domain transfer happen. And every registrar handles this process differently.
A little background first: A domain name transfer is not really a transfer at all, hence the confusion. It is merely an update to records that are attached to your domain registration called "name server" records. The name server records, in effect, tell the internet where your site is hosted.
Your domain registration, in most cases, remains unchanged and is not "transferred". What really happens is that the name server records that are attached to it are updated to point to your new hosting company.
To point your domain name to our name servers you will need to notify your registrar of the new name server information. We have listed some of the more popular registrars below with their instructions for updating your name server information. If your registrar is not listed, go to their site and look for links to "modify domain", "change DNS", "update name servers" or something similar.
Below are directions for domain transfers for some of the more popular registrars.
Please scroll down this page to find your registrar.

Register.com
To point your Domain Name to our servers, you just need to log on to Register.com's Domain Name Manager and add our DNS servers (nameservers) to your domain name record:
Go to The
Register.com "Manage
My Domain" form (this form will open up in a new browser
window).
On this form, enter your Domain Name, and the Username and Password you selected when you first registered. If you forgot your password or username, just click on the link on that page to have that information e-mailed to you.
Your current domain name record will be pulled up. Click on the Domain Name Server (DNS) section and do the following:
Click the "remove" box next to any existing
name servers listed for your account.
In the boxes below the current DNS entries, add our name servers:
Primary Name Server: ns1.earthstardns.com
Primary IP Address: 216.7.170.57
Secondary Name Server: ns2.earthstardns.com
Secondary IP Address: 216.7.170.58
You will receive an email requesting that you follow a link to confirm the changes. YOU MUST DO THIS TO ENABLE THE CHANGE!
Upon confirmation, the change will be visible in the Register.com WHOIS right away, the propagation should take no more than 1-3 days to spread to all ISPs on the Internet.
Open
SRS
Login to Domain Manager using your domain name, username, and password. Click on the "Name Servers" link at the top of the page. In the next screen, type the new name servers in place of existing primary and secondary name servers. You should type only the names and not the IP numbers. Be sure you do not have spaces at the beginning or end of the name. Click "Save Configuration" and the system will automatically find the IP numbers and update your record.
BuyDomains
Login to the domain Control Panel and change the name servers there. You will not need the IP addresses of the nameservers, just the names.
Domain
Bank
Log in to the system with your username and password at http://www.domainbank.net/index.cfm
Once you are successfully logged in, go to Domain Manager. Click on the Modify DNS Record button near the top center of the page. Choose the domain name you want to modify.
Note: you must make multiple domain name changes one name at a time.
You should now see the domain name you chose and its current DNS record. Enter the primary and secondary name servers you want to change to (you do not need to enter IP numbers as we automatically get those from the registry record). Choose which authorized email address (if more than one) to send the change request to. Hit the Send Button to initiate the change request. The DNS change is then sent to the authorized email address who must read the directions of the email and go to the unique link in the email message to complete the change. Failure to do this will NOT complete the DNS record modification. If the previous step is completed, 24-48 hours later, your DNS change is done!
DomainPeople
If
your domain name is registered through DomainPeople, you can login
to your account
manager to modify the name server information for your domain
name at any time. Select
the DNS Info from the main menu once you've logged in. You will
be taken to a form that displays the current name server information
for the domain. Each name server has a hostname and a corresponding
IP address. Simply replace the current hostname on the form with
the new hostname of the name server you wish to use, and click
the submit button. You do not have to enter the IP address, as
this information is already contained in the Internet zone files.
